Case Study: Renewable Energy Manufacturing Sector

Summary

A California-based renewable energy manufacturer was struggling with disconnected systems and manual processes across finance, procurement, and CRM. To streamline operations and eliminate inefficiencies, we implemented NetSuite as a centralized ERP solution. This unified their finance, procurement, inventory, and order management processes, enabling real-time data accuracy, automation, and scalable operations. The result: improved reporting, reduced manual work, and a strong foundation for future growth.

Challenges

A fast-growing renewable energy manufacturer operating in California faced significant operational challenges due to multiple disconnected systems. Finance was managed through QuickBooks Online, procurement through Point Purchasing, and CRM through Google Sheets. Manual processes were heavily relied upon, with Excel serving as the main tool for reporting. This led to inefficiencies, data inaccuracies, and a lack of real-time visibility across business functions.

Solution

We implemented NetSuite as a unified ERP platform to streamline and connect all core business processes. NetSuite replaced QuickBooks Online and Point Purchasing, consolidating finance, procurement, inventory management, and order management under one system. The project scope included:

  • Finance Management: Chart of Accounts, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable
  • Procurement & Inventory Management: Purchase Orders, Item Receipt, Vendor Bill Payment, Inventory Tracking
  • Order Management: Sales Orders, Item Fulfillment, Invoicing, Customer Payments

The new system was designed to serve as a single source of truth, automate workflows, and provide real-time reporting capabilities.

Results

  • Seamless Integration: Disparate systems were replaced with a connected, end-to-end ERP solution.
  • Increased Efficiency: Significant reduction in manual work and data entry.
  • Improved Accuracy: Centralized data enhanced reporting quality and decision-making.
  • Scalability: The ERP system laid the foundation for future expansion, including manufacturing execution system (MES) integration as the facility grows.
